Hi, I'[m new here and I'd like some thoughts about this photo, I've been taking amature photos for years off and on, and now I'm starting to get serious about it. I'd like your thoughts on the processing of this pic.
Camera: Nikon D70s ISO: 400 Exposure: 1/250 sec Aperture: 8.0 Focal Length: 62mm ps.. I know I know I didn't use the rule of thirds on this one

The only thing I really don't care for in this shot is the background. The flowers are nice...perhaps a bit more light (sunlight) to make the colors really pop. Not sure.
If you're going to shoot a macro of a flower I would tend to think less is more. By that I mean, less background to clutter the image. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet there is more background than there is flower. Which is distracting. Not sure what they are, pine needles perhaps, or dry grass, but it's almost as if I'm staring at bacteria through an out-of-focus microscope. Not sure what the white object on the ground is...trash of some sort, not sure. But it needs to go. It kinda reminds me of when I got my first camera. It was a Lumix point & click and I was into taking all kinds of shots with it. I took a shot of what I thought were nice shrub with purple flowers in the desert. I didn't pay any attention and when I shared the pic with a friends wife, she said "Nice flowers...but what about the pile of dog crap in the middle of it?". There it was, as plain as the nose on my face was a nice turd right in the middle of my picture. I felt like an @$$! Any rate, to make a long story short, if that is trash on the ground in your photo, might take a couple minutes to make sure the area is clean of that stuff, it'll make a world of difference in the quality of photo. Then again...I could be full of crap.
