Maybe I have been staring at/working on this too long maybe not? We were at the fair and I was trying to capture some of the fun and color and over the top feeling of the midway along with my friends wanting a picture with the ferris wheel behind them. Using the flash just sucked, totally lost the midway. So I attempted to use what light there was from the sunset and all the surrounding flourescents (sp?) and ride lights. My friend is darker skinned and I immediately had problems in editing with her looking too yellow or too purple. My edits were to first adjust those colors from the raw image, as well as try and reduce some noise from the 3200 iso then I used a few actions-

I usually use very little photoshop adjustments, but thought this image could handle looking more processed.....but i am not usually a fan of looking processed so I feel lost and unsure. Her skin color is still off to me (purplish?) but she thinks it looks awesome I just don't know. |

For some reason I just get the impression that your subject was placed in front of a green screen and the background was a separate shot. I'm not too sure why; it could be because of the post-processing.
I think her skin tone looks fine. Also I love how the colors stand out! It gives the Midway a fun, exciting look. It's something I would expect from a carnival or fair: bright lights, vibrant colors, and just a busy scene in general. Good job! |

I just saw your 2nd edit on flickr, and personally, I like the one you posted on DPS better (except for the green screen superimposed look).
Maybe it's an issue with the lighting on her face that makes it look superimposed (because your flickr edit doesn't give me that same impression). |
