Default Have I over processed this rugby lineout photo?

Was perusing the threads and came across one with a process that I thought I would like to try......has it worked?
Any critique on the process and composition is more than welcome.

i think your composition is quite good. you've certainly captured the moment.

but i'm not a fan of the processing. i think overall the image looks too dark for an outdoor sporting image. and the halo between the trees and the sky is very noticeable.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking myself, ... it makes the background look badly embossed.
I like the way the boys have turned out sort of 3Dish, but think the effect on the background ruins the overall look. I think I did make it too dark, will have another go at it.
Pleased to hear I'm on the right track re composition, thank you

I really like how the boys look - almost like a sculpture! But don't like the background effect ...

I really like how the boys turned out as well. Could be just a touch lighter and with a little more contrast. the only part of the background I cared about what where it met the sky. Really great shot.
