Default Single Image HDR

I'm trying out HDR and I found a tutorial for single image HDR in CS5 so I thought I'd give it a go, so I can see how the HDR works before going in with lots of images. Being new to this could you let me know if I'm going down the right lines or am I better off just going for the normal HDR using more images? This is the effect that I got with the single image HDR.

I do lots of these single image HDR's. Some of them are my best sellers. With that said for my personal taste I think it might be over contrasted rather than over cooked. I think if you backed out of your blacks just a tiny bit would fix this (speaking in LR terms). Also you might want to give it a tiny rotation left to align the top element the picture.

Also make sure that you do these 2 stops apart for maximum effect.

Over all it is a great image and a great subject. I really like religious structures as a subject.

I think the edit looks great, but personally I don't think it looks much like a HDR...

Thanks for the advice Izzy, I'll give it a go. It's also good to know I'm not wasting my time with the single image.

That could be either because it's only single image and perhaps hasn't got the depth that several images would give or (more than likely) because I'm new to this and haven't quite got the hang of it but i'm glad you like it. Thanks
