Default HDR Street Photography

Playing in Photoshop again today. This was also from a shot at last weekends car show. I found it quite neat that this kid was so intrigued by all these bottles, as I'm assuming they stopped selling Pepsi in bottles like that years before he was born.

It's "kinda hdr," as it's only one exposure with HDR Tonemapping all done in Photoshop. What do you think? Is it overcooked or, what could I have done differently?

EXIF:
Exposure: 1/50
Aperture: f/16
Program: AV
ISO: 100
Metering Mode: Pattern
Flash: Did not fire
Focal Length: 27
White Balance: Auto
Camera: Canon T2i

Default Pop bottles really pop.

I really like the effect of the HDR on the crates and the bottles. The red fender really pops, too.

I find the street behind the teenager to be a bit distracted. You have created wonderful lines and patterns with the pepsi bottles all lined up perfectly, and then the boy to draw the eye and give the image a focal point. All of that is absolutely perfect in my opinion. I think the framing is a bit off. I am not sure if there was much you could do about that..moving a step to the left to crop out the street would have ruined your profile perspective on the boy.

All in all though, I think the HDR is very well done. It really makes those bottles pop! (pun intended!)

Thanks for the response, Snapps! I agree with you on the framing, but unfortunately, it took me a few minutes just to wait for the rest of the people to get out of the frame and capture this one boy by himself. It was quite a busy street in the middle of a downtown car show. I actually did do some cropping in post to remove some stray arms, etc.

Yeah, I remember as a kid taking the empty bottles back to the grocery store for credit.

This truck was really cool, as all of those bottles were full and SEALED. And it had full shelves on BOTH sides of the truck.

It was neat, because as I watched this kid, it was like he was thinking, "Why is it in glass!?" haha Notice the plastic bottle he's holding.
