Question While my son was driving one day..

I am using a trial version of Lightroom, per suggestions of many of you, thanks!
I am always interested in critique on composition as that is what gets people to look at a shot, but I have not tried any B& W since I was in high school graphics class back in the mid 70's. This shot just screamed B&W to me so I gave it a go.

1. This is a straight conversion, but should it be lighter?

2. Would using the presets create a better image, and if so, which ones would you recommend? The inevitable next question Why? ( If I know why, then I can use that to make decisions in the future)

3. There is some blur, I was riding in the car with my son driving, (18 yr old new driver, brave of me to be shooting) In the foreground I think it adds to the shot, but I value your opinions.

As always thanks for all of your input, and for sharing your part of the world through your lens.

Hi Phil
I'm also new to Lightroom but love it (buy it). I would go through the presets and see what looks good as a start. Lots of times i watch both the settings and the pictures to see what is happening. Then when I am close I do tweaking on my own.

Its a good start but work on it. Perspective is there , composition is there. Just spend some time. Good luck

Thanks. I have a coupon to buy it for $99.00 so its not a huge investment by any means. I used to live in your part of the world, one of the first 200 families to move into Sterling many years ago...
