Default Ist HDR-Waterfall

This my first forray into the world of HDR. I was going for the natural as opposed to surrealistic look. My questions are: Do you think I achieved that? Is the overall photo bright enough? and is the hotspot on the watefall too much of a distraction? It's not clipped, but it does seem pretty hot to me. Is there anything I could/should have done different? And also if it looks really out of focus it isn't. It is a bit soft, at least softer than I would like it to be, but for some reason photos I have uploaded to Flickr lately look alot softer than they look on my computers photo viewer. Does anyone know why this might be?

Nice Shot. I like what you have done here...

I think you hit your mark. Definitely not over done...and very natural looking.

Yes. All lighting considered, I think the brightness is even, considering.

Nope. I am glad it is not clipped, and do not find it as a distraction.

It is strictly my opinion, and you are getting what you are paying for..... But I think I would like to see the image cropped, just to the bottom of the big rock in the foreground. The inverted "V" from the rock at the bottom, keeps drawing my eye back to the bottom of the photograph. When I move that off by browser window, my eye settles into the center of the image. (still not at the waterfall, but it settles and finds some peace with your shot).

Interestingly enough, if I crop off the top, to the bottom of the waterfall, I find a second beautiful peaceful image here, using the inverted "V" this time.

Hi, I think you are being overly critical with your image. It's a nice shot with good foreground and depth. The HDR effect is very subdued and you could possibly have increased it a bit without making it look unnatural but a good effort.

Thank you for your input. Now that you mention I agree with you about the crop.

Thank you very much. I have some more from this waterfall, I may try another HDR and push it a lil more.

Nice scenery, very natural looking, certainly not overdone - love it!

I don't think it's overdone at all, very "photorealistic". I do agree about cropping the bottom of the image. Nice work.

I love the shot overall and actually like the inverted V at the bottom. The rocks and soft water at the bottom is what really grabs me. In my mind, just because it's a photo of a waterfall doesn't mean the waterfall needs to be the most important element. I viewed the image from the bottom up, but kept coming back to the rocks ... but I really do like rocks :-). The hot spots are small enough that they are not distracting at all.

Now a question for you - which software do you use for HDR? I'd like to get into HDR, just downloaded the trial version of HDR Express, but am not getting seamless results like this.

Great shot!

This shot looks like it could have been done without HDR. It definitely doesn`t look overprocessed =D
