Exclamation Jets - Please Critique

Hi all,

This here is the age old question of "to cut and paste or not to cut and past". I have been working on moving some of my better shots (subject wise) and transferring them to better backgrounds. ie in this one I feel the blue sky is better than the grey. Any critique on this image and advice on how i can blend the layers better would be really helpful.

PLEASE CRITIQUE THIS - I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO PERFORM THESE TASKS BETTER!!!

Exif data
All shots taken with canon 350d
Sigma 70-200 f2.8 + 2x teleconverter
f/11
varying shutter speeds

This image came from 3 individual shots.
PP included the obvious cut and paste, crop, resize, Shadows/highlights adjustments including colour, gausian blur of jet in background, plus noise removal.

HI,
Looking at the original on your Flickr, I personally prefer the grey sky. The underside of the jet is a little dark for a blue sky and looks more natural in its original environment. The cockpit glass on the blue sky one still has the grey sky through it, so it distracts me...in an ocd sort of way....That said, it takes some skill to capture these things whizzing through the air.

Dave,

Thanx, i've been waiting for some critique. In relation to the cockpit, I used the eraser tool on a 40% opacity setting to let the sky behind through, obviosly not enough though, however, I didnt want to make it look like there was no cockpit glass there at all!!
