Default help with blending layers

Hi all
i have just started playing with layers and looking at doing this style for a set subject for camera club later this year. I have to show 4 seasons on A4, instead of doing a montage i thought this maybe and interesting way of doing it but im having trouble blending the lines between the 4 pictures. I have played with the opacity and fill levels but i looses to much of the detail. any help and tips greatly appreciated

i see the little thumbnail but it too small to see the detail.
Anyway you will use layer masks. Couple different ways... You can paint the masks by hand; you could cut a selection using the rectangular selection tool then feather the edges or you can use the gradient tool to feather the masks and i am sure there are even more ways...

You need to use the gradient tool on a layer mask as well as probably some manual work with a very light brush to fine tune the transitions between images.
