Default Red Rock HDR

My first attempt at an HDR. Shot at Red Rock Canyon just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. Began with a single shot adjusted in Lightroom and then used Photomatix to create the HDR.

Jason, I love your images in the set -- I took the liberty of checking out some of your images on flickr. I also noticed your original of above. I respect that fact that you are attempting HDR with the idea of increasing dynamic range rather than by making fakes.

I wonder, if you held back a bit on the grasses, and keeping the tree aglow.... somewhere between the original and this rendition, perhaps?

When I first looked at the picture, I wondered how the sky was so grey with the foreground and middle-ground being so colorful. I'll take your word that it's the way it was. I've traveled out west many times and realize anything can happen!

You do nice work.

Hi Jason. As Bruce said, the difference in colour between the grass and the sky is a bit unusual, but I believe it was possible. Similar to this, I find it wierd that the grass, the left fence post and top of the tree are nicely lit, but lower part of the tree isn't. Was it really like that? I also noticed that your horizon is tilted to the right.
