Default Lamp and Book (still life)

I'm looking for opinions on how this image is received by different individuals. Input on what is pleasing, and not so pleasing, to the eye. What works or doesn't work for you in the composition or processing?

Personally I think the texture is to consistent and uniform throughout the shot. It doesn't really break anything up or add any depth to the shot. I like the composition though, it is still a great shot.

It’s a nice shot.

Perhaps a bit more light on one side and shadow on the other? Seems a bit the same all over to me.

The photo has a very two dimensional look which is interesting in ityself. I wonder how it would look if the lamp base and shade were modeled a little more to make them look more 3 dimensional.

The crop seems a little close. The left edge of the lamp shade and the book on the bottom are right against the edges of the frame. Gives it a clautrophobic kind of feel.

The "two demensionality" was intentional, inspired by the reading I was doing and achieved by "lighting the scene from within"

Thank you both for your input, it is appreciated
