Default My addiction to HDR

Just cant stop playing with HDR at the moment. I was just wondering if I over done the HDR??

EXIF :
Hand held 3 EV +2 0 -2.
Photomatix tonemapped painterly
Adjusted in GIMP.
Exposure 0.001 sec (1/667)
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 18 mm
ISO Speed 100
X-Resolution 300 dpi
Y-Resolution 300 dpi

Please give advice on composition, HDR processing and in general.

Photo taken 24 Oct 2010 at Mindil Beach Sunset Market Darwin, Darwin Kombi Festival 2010.

I like the shot/processing.
I think the composition is off as the "primary subject" (colorful van/people) are almost off the left side of the shot.

I agree with sk66, great processing, but if you had placed the subjects further to the right in the shot capturing more of the van and the people, then it would have been much better. Very cool colors though!

I like it. It is a bit overcooked with some unrealistic colors - BUT given the subject matter, it looks good. I would expect nothing less of a photo of a hippie van. Looks a little bit like a painting instead of a photo. But I like it.

Thanks, I was thinking the van in the back would be cut if I center the yellow one...

I love the way the car looks, but the HDR doesn't make the people look good at all.

It would be, but it adds little to the image overall.

Yes, it's off balance but otherwise pretty cool HDR effect. Cropping out half of the van on the right still gives it presence. Hold your hand over that bit of the photo and see how the main subject pops.

Coooool effect ....
It looks very neat indeed ... lovely capture. Just wondering how you managed to ensure that there was no ghosting of the people on the left? Did you manage to snap the bracketed shots so fast that they didn't move? I've found photomatix to do a really lousy job on ghosting for the most bit!! ... so all the more kudos to you for such a lovely handheld HDR!
