I guess my captures are not up to snuff on this forum. I'm new here and am wondering Is this the norm here? Have any of you posted questions and have not gotten anything replied to?

no, this is unusual because your photo of your daughter is very good.
maybe crop a little of the right side which is too big space and maybe a little bit more color since this is almost like a bw photo, but this is just my opinion.

Overall I think you've done a beautiful job of processing this. Its an engaging style and has a kind of dreamy feel to it.

I'm no expert though so feel free to ignore / disregard any of my advise.

The main thing I feel about the processing is that it could have been toned down a little. The soft focus is good but its a little too soft in my opinion. Similarly for the desaturation. Just a tad less desaturation would bring up some detail while hopefully retaining the feel you wanted.

If you've increased the brightness you may want to be careful about the window as its so bright as to become a distration.

The lighting is beautiful however so well done with that.

I'd also experiment with a crop a bit, as her eyes are vertically center of the image. Hard to explain as there are multiple crops that may or may not work.

Anyway well done.

Wes

I like the profile shot, lighting/exposure could probably come down just a tad bit if you want to keep the right hand side in the shot, or like edbayani mentioned, you could crop a little of the right side of the photo out; but overall a very nice capture.

I agree, this is beautiful photo, both in composition and processing. I like her profile and the detail in her hair, but I think it would be better if it was shot a bit closer, or cropped.

A couple of hours with no comments isn't unusual. There are a lot of posts on this forum and not everyone get comments right after posting their new thread. It usually doesn't have anything to do with how good your photo is, so patience is recommended.
I tend to post my thread and come back the next day to check if anyone's commented.

I like your photo a lot. After reading the comments above and the title of the thread I'm wondering, is there supposed to be some color on it? Because if there is, I'm not seeing it.
The right side feels a little too bright to me, it makes my eye go to the left and suddenly her hair seems the main focus point. In other words, the bright light eats out her face a little.
I don't think the focus is too soft, I think it's just right. =)
