Default Understanding HDR - 2

Camera Canon EOS 500D
Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture f/11.0
Focal Length 18 mm
ISO Speed 100
X-Resolution 72 dpi
Y-Resolution 72 dpi
Exposure value set in Roxio, HDR processed with Photomatix and level adjusted with GIMP.
Photo was taken during our holiday in Indonesia last July - August in Belitung Island, Sumatra.

My other trial of HDR photography, single JPEG image. Hows the color and HDR processing? Any idea to make it better?

Definitely straighten the horizon (if you can do HDR you can straighten the horizon ). I think the composition is quite interesting. But I'd rather see it without HDR I think.

The other thing to keep in mind is that when you're doing HDR with a single JPG it's not really HDR. The best results come from multiple exposures. Now, that's probably where my next comments come from. The colours are find in some areas, not quite so fine in other areas. To me, the colours of the clouds don't look quite right. They look a bit over blue/grey. Then I'd probably like to see the green of the trees darkened a little too.

The good thing is that those things can be worked with without going back I definitely don't think it's a total loss.

My comment is pretty much the same as Nicole's. I don't like the horizon and the colour of the clouds seem to be a bit off, too much blue in them. You could also add some contrast in the green foliage. I like the path around the pool and the detail in it. Though I'm not sure this needed to be an HDR.
