Default Understanding HDR

EXIF:
Camera Canon EOS 500D
Exposure 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 25 mm
ISO Speed 100
X-Resolution 72 dpi
Y-Resolution 72 dpi

I processed this for HDR with Photomatix and GIMP. ITs a single images but I manipulated the exposure with Roxio. What could I do better for this? Is the lighting OK?

Please Rate 1 : Poor and 4 : Excellent.

Hello,

I also agree that you should straighten the horizon. It could also be improved by cropping a bit (basically the upper portion of the sky) and turning a specific element the main point of attention. Finally, I find the sky is a bit too dark. If you would brighten it up a bit, you might achieve a bit more contrast with the water.

Oh and before I forget: you didn't overdo HDR, which is a good thing!

Greetings

I'm assuming 1 would be the low end of the scale and 4 would be the high end (good)?

I like the hdr processing here, it's a great shot and the composition is spot on. I personally would have given the image just a little more vibrance (not saturation) and/or contrast to enhance the colors and give it some punch. Seems a bit "flat" to me. On the other hand I don't like overdone hdrs. Either way well done!!
