![]() This a picture taken at Cannon Beach in Oregon. It was a typically overcast and cold day. I really enjoyed taking this shot and would like ideas about how I can improve the composition, look or any other factors that might make this a more appealing photo. I think the only change i would make is to try to change the composition a tiny bit. right now with the rock dead center, it seems like that's the focus rather than the kid. especially with the other rock in the background, my eye seems to go from one rock to the other, rather than moving left to the kid if that makes any sense.

I am going to echo cbui81's comments. My eye is drawn to the rocks also. I don't know if you wanted to direct the viewers' eyes to the rock or the child. I don't know if you have already cropped this image, but I think the big rock in the middle of the image dominates it. I usually prefer to have the main subject off-center for landscapes.

I agree...I actually didnt even notice the little kid standing there because the rock is so big and has so much texture....re-composing to make the little man stand out would be helpful

I love Cannon Beach. :-) I would have moved your boy several feet to his right, and made him the focal point with the big Haystack Rock misted in the background.
