I was playing about with some self portraits setting up my lighting and practicing with flashes on a boring Sunday afternoon. I tried doing a "twilight" style edit to one of my photos. The original was lit from the right side of the shot using a soft box, with a reflector to the left. I then changed the background in photoshop, smoothed the skin and desaturated it, changed my eye colour and added mist around the bottom of the image.
Does this work? ![]() |

You're getting close. The "Twilight" series images tend to use light more like you would get with a one-light set up with heavy shadows just under the eyebrows but with plenty of light in the eyes themselves. It also looks like your model's forehead has turned nearly gray. Aside from that, you are right on target. Hey, it's popular right now; jump on the train while it's running and make a few bucks if you can!

pretty cool, i'd go for more contrast on the face and burn in some shadow to give the face more depth and 'mystery' kind of thing! cool stuff though and you're on the right track!

Thanks everyone. Will have to shoot again. I lost the original so have been working from the processed image. My hard drive crashed taking a lot of my work with it. Just glad i am going in the right direction with it without a tutorial. I do the odd tutorial, but like finding things out my own way as i learn better by error
![]() I am hoping to do another shoot towards the end of this week so will post my results then

I think this is pretty cool. The eyes are over the top if you ask me.

You have the eyes pretty good but Joey L's twilight photos are also much clearerwith the smoke is behind them. The rest has been mentioned already.
