This is a shot that I took of Jackie Stewart's Terrell 003 at a Watkins Glen vintage sports car event a few years ago. Sorry I dont have the EXIF but the shot is heavily processed so that doesnt really matter all that much.
Photoshop users will certainly see the filters that I applied but my questions is this; Is it art? I get many different answers from people. Some say that taking the photo and creating the composition and applying different PS filters to end with a pleasing result requires an artistic eye and therefore it is art. Others say no, because I used a computer program to manipulate the image and I didnt really do anything, Photoshop did. I am looking forward to hearing other opinions. |

Making a few clicks just to see what it does to the image, whether or not it looks good, isn't really art imo...its experimenting.
If you meant to create that look, so be it. Personally, I don't feel that the filters used fit the bill with the photograph. Looks like something a 15 year old amateur would do to some pictures on their myspace page or something...not saying I'm not an amateur, I honestly don't see the appeal to that style. Others may disagree. That's the great thing about art...its all subject to interpretation. One's man's trash is another mans treasure kind of thing. Last edited by jpamyers; 07-23-2010 at 10:26 PM. |

I truly believe that each image has a perfect edit and, that if you are tuned in, the photo will tell you when you have found that perfect edit. This isn't the perfect edit for this image imho. I would go back to the drawing board. To me this is bad image processing, not art.
