Was the noise coloured or monochrome? It looks more like digital sensor noise because it appears quite colourful, although that could be due to the underlying image. Most tutorials suggest monochrome noise that is also blurred a little.
I think I can also see evidence of JPEG compression in the form of hints of a pattern of square blocks. I haven't experimented but would imagine that you can get away with less compression on a noisy picture. Wulf |
