Default Local Church in HDR

I pass this cute church on the way home, and today I stopped to snap a picture of it.

I decided to do this in HDR. How do you feel the affect is. Did I go overboard, or is this cool. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I think this is a matter of taste, but I personally think this is well overcooked. My main problems are a) the colours (the green of the trees is too strong and the sky looks a bit strange); and b) there are some noticeable 'halos' (bright spots) around the trees and church.

I really like the composition (except I would maybe take out the odd pink square in the bottom right) and the clouds are in a nice position. I would just consider reigning back the processing quite heavily and seeing if you can put the focus back on the beautiful building rather than the strong processing effects.

Thanks for the feedback. I kinda agree with you on it being overcooked. Here was the first version of what I had done, before I decided to go nuts. I have removed the pink notice that was on the door. Thanks for pointing out that it was distracting.

So far in my life I've seen only one HDR-photo that was actually really good. That one didn't look like the 'normal' HDRs at all.
As Calcuttr said, it's mostly a matter of taste when it comes to HDR. I think it does absolutely no justice to the photo. It distracts the mind from the photo subject itself and makes me look and think about the processing only. I would totally lose the HDR and the frames also.

I personally like the HDR shots.

When they get over done, they can still be pleasing to look at. They just take a different feel.

That said, I do prefer your second post.

The second image is nice. I'm typically annoyed by HDR, especially dirty-looking skies, but this looks like it was hand drawn so it works for me. The lighting is pretty and soft, and the composition is good.

I also prefer the second. I do recommend adding a little more contrast to make it pop. I also recommend some editing to remove the power lines that hanging over the front of the building. But, overall, lovely job with a lovely subject.

Sometimes, I really appreciate the more surreal HDR images. Sometimes, I think the more realistic images work. It's kind of like asking which is better...an oil painting, water color or pastels? Or is Van Gogh better than Pablo Picasso. It's all a matter of taste. So, whether it's surreal or realistic, it's all art to me.

I love how it looks drawn to life. I personally don't like overcooked HDR's but this looks good. Thanks for sharing.

Its okay to edit and repost my posted images.
Life is rarely black and white; it’s far more often filled with shades of gray.
