Default HDR sunflower

Hi, I just began doing some HDR process... It's a new way to see a photo!
I did it with Gimp with three layers (original, dark with mask and light with mask) Here's one I just finish today.

I wanted to know if I over did it... Do you find the color too strong?

Thank you for your comment, here's the exif data...

Nikon D80
Speed: 1/200 sec.
Aperture: f/7.1
ISO: 100
Flash fired
Focal length: 28 mm

Thanks and a nice day to everyone!

I agree that it looks great. Whether or not it is over coloured depends on your intentions. If you want it to be a work of art that represents your interpretation of the scene, then it works really well. However, it will never be mistaken for a naturalistic scene

Thanks drr0b for your comment... Yes, I wanted the surrealist kind of photo with a little 3D look (some kind of depth )

The colors are a bit strong IMO, at least on my monitor, but it creates a very vibrant and fun image. If you ever choose to desaturate the picture a bit, I would try to keep full coloring for the center of the sunflower - the colors and contrast are perfect!! In comparison to the rest of the photo the center of feels very real.

Since you were going for HDR, I think the over-colored look is just fine!

I love this :-)

Hi Francois:

Nice poster like rendering, but it’s not exactly an HDR since the range is limited. Are you tone curving your image?

I tend to recommend Photomatix Pro software.

Have fun!

In fact, I used Gimp... and I followed that instructions. Yes, in the process, I had to use 'curve'. In the final result, I had a dark layer with mask, a light layer with mask and my middle tone photo. BUT, I didn't really followed the instructions step by step because I used an old photo... So, instead of using 3 shots, I used one shot that I darken and lighten... Maybe this is why you said that
Thanks for your comment and have a nice day!

I like it, colors are a little strong for my tastes though, but if you like it then keep it as it is.
