Copied twice in lightroom to make one -2ev and one +2 ev then HDR converted and tone mapped in Photomatix

The green land looks interesting, but a little dark. Can't say that I'm fond of that sky though. Those massive halos at the horizon generally wouldn't be thought of as positives.

I don't like the halos on the horizon either. If you're going to spend so much time creating an HDR I think your time would be better spent starting with a better subject, or spend some more post processing time cloning out the distracting power lines. I know this is only your third attempt but good HDR has vibrant colours and when done properly no halos that are a sure fire give away it's HDR. Keep trying.

It does bring out the details nicely, but I think the halo makes it look way over the top.
I'm not a big fan of HDR and for that I know nothing about the technique of it, so I don't have any suggestions on how to make it better.

You're just beginning to scratch the surface of HDR. Right now, Photomatix is doing most of the work, but consider playing with image adjustments, tonal corrections and curves in Photoshop after HDR rendering is complete.
