I was riding my bike this afternoon, saw the setup and had to grab a picture of it. Nothing fancy, but am looking for any pointers about any aspect of the picture.

I actually really like this photo. The variety of colors, good saturation, leading lines taking you through the picture. The vignetting is nice too, not TOO over done, but its at the limit I believe. Nice capture!

True, there already was a screaming red fire hydrant next to the street sign that i took out with gimp; i forgot about the less obvious sign. Thanks for the comments.

Nice shot - it's a pity the car wasn't parked just a little closer to the kerb - I would have liked to have seen a little more car, but wouldn't want to change the composition of the rest of the shot.
Nice work getting rid of the hydrant - I couldn't tell at this size. I agree that you should work the same disappearing magic on the street sign. TFS

What's the subject of the photo? To me, the vignette is awkward, because as I see it the subject of the photo is the car, but your putting most of that into shadow with the vignette. It also forces your eye back to the center of the frame, where you do have some nice leading lines, which force you deeper into the frame, but there's really nothing to stop and fixate on except the car which you're de-emphasizing with the vignette.

To be fair to the fire hydrant, I did get a close up of it. ![]() The original car shot is attached.

Compositionally, I think it works, I'm just not keen on the vignette. If anything, I would say you might want to use a neutral gradient filter applied left to right (instead of top to bottom) to further push the viewers eyes toward the car. I would also recommend leaving the sign. It provides a nice anchor in the background to give your eyes something to rest on before following the horizontal green line of the sign back to the car. Without that anchor, I think you'd end up getting lost in the tangle of trees back there.

Perfect picture, I love the effect and think you have a beautiful piece of fine art here!
