Default First Impression

Hi DPS classmates. Would love to hear from you if my first HDR image
processed in Photomatix looks okay or looks boring.

Would like to also hear suggestions to better improved my knowledge in HDR
processing aside from reading and researching on internet.

Good or bad comments are highly appreciated.

Default Very Nice

I like this kind of HDR. i think of it as textured. It is so pretty. I would say you
have gotten it just right.

For me, post-processing was overworked. Not much of a fan of HDR photos that look surreal. But that's just me. As they say, different strokes for different folks. Just my two cents.

Cheers!

Thanks Carolyn for appreciation.

Hi Eric thanks for giving time to share your thoughts
about my artwork. I truly believe that everyone got
their own taste and I respect that. This is my first
time doing HDR and still on the process of knowing
do's and dont's.

Thanks again and cheers to all!

I actually really like this shot. The colors are nice.

I do have one criticism: I think it's a bit too grainy. Maybe just bump up the smoothing a tad on your HDR conversion?

Thumbs up first impression

I too am not a big fan of the over kill that is done in some HDR conversions I like the building it is the sky that draws me away maybe because of the darkness or the grain that is moving through out the sky. Did you do any other processing prior to or after Photomatix.

I have some that I have on my flickr account ( Flickr: qualityresults' Photostream ) that I converted in Corel Paint Shop Pro XII which doesn't seem to draw out the abstract as much, although I too have made too many adjustments and had flares in some of my sunlight around the clouds.

Just wondering what bracketing you used for the HDR, I used in mine -2 0 +2, which I find seems to give me more natural looking shots.

But I have to say great shot, and keep trying different modifications to see what you like, as a photographer you are always the hardest to please

Hi Qualityresults.

Thanks for a lot for your advice. I didn't do anymore processing after
converting the 3 pictures in Photomatix. I'm still new with HDR and
tried my knowledge if I can come up with a good results. I too is quite
unsatisfied with the sky. But I think my purpose here is to achieved a
picture that doesn't look very natural.

The bracketing i used with this one is +2, -2 and fixed F8.

I will try other shots that would look more natural and will post soon.

I love photography. And I love HDR, I think it's a great technique, although not easy as many people think.
As far as your picture is concerned, I think that maybe you used too high ISO. My suggestion is to use ISO 100 most of the times if not always. It goves a much better result and it gives far less grainy results, although grain is not necessarily bad. Maybe you should play a bit with the levels in photoshop also. One other thing is the timing: the picture looks like it was taken during noon or some time around noon in a sunny day. The sun is pretty harsh at these lighting condition. My suggestion is to prefer more evenly lit places or cloudy days and times.
