Default Eureka!

Greetings!

I am not normally one for using effects on images, but I thought this particular photo was asking for it. What do you think of the fresco effect? Does it add any value? I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the composition of the photo itself. Is it too busy? I'm not used to shooting cityscapes.
I think the larger version is better: Flickr Photo Download: Eureka!
Thanks for looking!

The composition is spot on but for the moon which is a bit of overkill. I suspect you placed it there because you were worried about leaving that much black space; don't be. Yes, it's a negative space, but it creates an interesting shape which is what negative spaces are supposed to do.
But you have also raised question; you have applied a painting technique to a photograph, so what is it now? a painting? a photograph? a hybrid? Would you put this in your portfolio?

Just for grins, I saved the photo and erased the moon. Definitely changes the whole photo having the black space. Draws the eye more to the street scene than to the moon itself.

I agree that the mon does not suit. I like the colour tone of the image but dislike teh texture, but then i am not one for testure on photos, although it does have its place.

I like the composition, it is an interesting shot and i dont think it is too busy.

One last point on the moon, i think it stands out and distracts cause it is not the same tone as the rest of teh photo. The photo is warm with yellowy orange tones and teh moon is cool and stark.

I think toning the moon would be a good step if you wanted to keep it.
