Default wedding dress + hands

hands in sky1small.jpg
shot with rebel xti
1/200
f 8
iso 400
33mm
580ex flash fired
processed with cs4
I love the result, however, I'm biased. Looking for a critique, mostly a "what do you think"

Ouch! NO! When I saw the thumbnail I was really impressed and loved the enlargement until I noticed the freaky fingers in the sky. NOOOOO! You ruined a perfectly terrific shot!

I agree. The idea is beautiful but the shot looks lovely without the hands in it.

Although I agree with the previous posters about the original shot being lovely, I think the 'shopped version could be nice.

But here's why I don't think it works just now; Basically the two shots aren't quite blended well enough yet. The original shot is too contrasted for the 'dreamy' kind of look I think the shot needs. Also the hands could be a *little* less transparent, at least, showing slightly more skin colour (but only a little bit! heh).
And, I don't know what method you used to blend the two, but the edges of the original shot have got that "standing in front of a blue screen" look, the dark edge outline, slight halo etc.
Perhaps you could tell us what prossessing methods you used?

Quick edit/disclaimer; these are of course just my opinions, I don't mean my tone to sound overly judging

This isn't a comment on your skills as a photographer but straight up - I absolutely detest this effect.

The picture of the bride is wonderful! You don't need the hands. But, with the hands, I'm not to keen on the arrangement of the hands. I think it would look better if they were lightly clasped or somewhat intertwined. The current placement is not as romantic.

hibou make me lol, for reals. I found your comment refreshing and spot on. Perhaps I feel this way because I totally agree.

I know it's just a matter of personal taste, but I really *hate* the effect here because it strikes me as cheesy.

As hibou said, it's not a comment on your skills, just on this photo.
