Hey,
Both of these can be clicked for a better view! I took these today( Sundays are great). There from an abandoned school in my area. The school was boarded up pretty well so the vandalism is very minimal. I had permission to enter as well! Please tell me what you think, both are HDRs. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/larrysc/4320257749/ Flickr: Larry ScrappyChief's Photostream Phohos Last edited by peeperita; 02-08-2010 at 02:12 PM. I find the images a little dull. Maybe it's the colors or lack of and also the building itself is a little boring. Perhaps a you need to go a little over the top on the processing to bring out the colors or work on your shot angle.

(Note: please check out the forum rules -- you're probably missing a lot of potential critique from people who are waiting for you to post specific questions and your EXIF data. Also -- only one photo per day, please!)
That said, I agree -- the photos seem empty, but not in a "vast sense of emptiness and abandonment" way. Rather, there just isn't much in them. The second photo works a bit better with the moody lighting and dull colors -- that's starting to evoke a bit more of a story. The first one just looks like a normal everyday room, with a bit of dust and not much in it. Something you might want to think about when photographing abandoned buildings (one of my favorite subjects!) is: what's the story here? Perhaps you can find some small sign of human habitation which was left -- a desk, some words on a board, heaven knows what. There are often muted but beautiful colors, and grungy textures, which really help to bring a photo to life. Look for those, put them together, and you'll probably see a lot of improvement. Just my 2 cents -- value decreasing daily!

I rather like the second.....would be a nice shot for a composition. it does seem to be more telling and intriguing.
The first one isnt a bad shot but it seems to need a bit of "mood" Whether be more dramatic lighting or maybe even just a simple chair or empty desk in the shot.....A vignette might help a bit too.

Both good suggestions, Thank you. Sadly the building is now closed to be renovated. It will no longer be a school.
