Default Any good books on photoshop CS3?

Hi All,

Ive recently been given a copy of Photoshop CS3, and being new to photoshop I'm totally lost. So can anyone recommend a good book to get started with on it? I'm talking, right from the basics here. Ive seen a lot of on-line tutorials. But I'm really after a book to read and refer to as im working.

Any thoughts?

The main books I use are:

1) The Adobe CS3 Book for Photographers by Scott Kelby.
It's more of a receipe book showing you step by step how to achieve different effects. It's very accessible and you can dip in and out of it. However some of his humour can get a bit annoying. He also co-presents a weekly video cast: The weekly Photoshop TV show featuring "The Photoshop Guys" Scott Kelby, Dave Cross and Matt Kloskowski. Presented by the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). | Photoshop User TV

2) Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers by Martin Evening.
This is more of a technical book that describes how each tool/filter/etc. works and gives some examples. This is another really useful book as it helps you to understand how each tool works and what it can do - so when you want to achieve xyz you know what to use and how to use it.

They would both cover that (not in great detail on black & white conversions though). Maybe the Kelby book for quick results.

There are some sample pages online so you can get an idea of the style of the book:

Try what I do, go to Barnes and Noble, go to the Photoshop or digital camera section and not only can you find exactly what you want, but you get to glance through it before you buy it, that way you are sure that's what you want.
