Default Converting .psd to .jpg for Flickr or Facebook

How do I do that?

Whenever I use layers or duotone stuff in CS3 it won't let me save it as a jpg. It saves the photo as .psd. Flickr won't allow me to upload .psd's so how do I convert them so I can?

Once you have saved the file as a PSD you should then be able to go to File > Save As, and select whatever format you want.

if your work includes more than one layer, you'll have to flatten it first and then you may save as jpeg.....

Ohhh! So it'll still allow me to save an 'unflattened' image, but only as a psd? Okay, I'll have to try this. Thanks, folks.

Aha!

The other thing I had done was not reconvert back to RBG colour from duotone.

Success! Thanks again!

Are you on a mac?

If so, you can create an "Automator" workflow that resizes, and changes the file type with just one click.

Sure thing! This is a very underrated application, but so useful

In fact, I'll just link you to this Youtube tutorial that will explain it better than I can. Setting up the workflow takes about 3 minutes, but you can save it after and just drag photos into it and it will automatically do it in seconds!

YouTube - Using Apple Automator to resize your photos

This video shows you how to resize the photo. To add "change file type", just add Change Type of images before he adds the scale function. The 'change type of images' is found in the same place as the "Scale images" function.

Dont bother trying to save appropriately for Facebook: it mashes things up so badly regardless of what you do.

Yeah, but not just for Facebook. Flickr too. But also, eventually for printing too, right?
