If anyone is interested I thought I would share my findings so everyone who doesnt want to work in CMYK colour to correct skin tones heres what I found.
Its best to set your white points first in either levels or curves how ever you prefer. You may also want to create a layer mask to only adjust the skin. You need two sample points on a well lit portion of the skin usually cheek and forehead have a look in your info pallet at the RGB numbers your looking for R(ed) greater than G(reen) which is greater than B(lue) or R>G>B and your nearly there. To finish off you need to adjust the individual colour channels in curves you can do this by clicking on one the sample points you made and adding a control point to all channels in curves. Adjust the channels so that the difference in the value between Red and green is greater than or equal to the difference in value between green and blue or (R-G) = or > (G-B) ... confused yet lol
