Default Sharpening eyes

I know that focusing in on the eyes is one of the most important things in photography. What if you got the perfect shot but the persons eyes are slightly out of focus? What's the best way to fix this? Is it possible to sharpen the eyes only in Photoshop and have it still look natural?

You can sharpen but it will never look as good as having it in focus. You might even have better results softening everything else...

Is there another way to soften without blurring?

If you have another capture of the same subject with eyes that are in better focus, you can cut and paste them into the other image. I have done this before a lot and it works out real well.

Also . . . depending on how bad your eyes are, you can try the following: Copy both eyes into their own layer and apply a Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen with the settings: 100%, 4.7 pixels, and Remove Gaussian Blur. If that does not improve the eyes, you can delete the layer.

What I usually do is create a duplicate layer, The bottom layer way over sharpen the entire image, go to the top layer and erase just the eyes, Makes em pop. If its too sharp you can always erase at a lower opacity
