Default saving an image for printing

hi guys sorry if this has been asked before but one i have finished post processing an image to the way i like it i generally save two files one in jpg for uploading to flickr and here and the other as a tiff file.

firstly am i losing any quality by doing this for when i want to print because i like to print large and the couple of prints i have done from the tiff files are good but not as good as i would have liked.

secondly if there is a better way of doing it what is it.

kind regards

Carl.

Well to be honest there is no real point saving your final edited image as a TIFF most Labs will print straight from JPEG theres no advantage of the 16bit TIFF over the 8bit JPEG when printing.

If you are working in RAW save your RAW file maybe as DNG for future use as I believe this is a fully supported file type for all new image editors? Maybe some RAW users can tell you more.

And the printing issue may be the file check the focus and sharpness, if it is the colour have a look at monitor calibration and colour profiles.
