i know i could just try this out myself.. but the camera is at home right now
![]() when shooting with the in-camera preset set to "black and white", and shooting jpeg+raw the jpeg will be created as a b/w image... thats a gimmie but, will the raw file have the colour retained in the file and the "saturation slider" simly set all the way left to desaturated? i think this could eb a good way of creating a b/w image.. but still having the option of colour. .....i thought i'd try my luck and fish for a yes or no. thanks

I'm pretty sure you're right. At least on my Nikon D40, the RAW file just has a flag set to convert the color data into B&W. There are even different desaturation modes you can choose from -- luminescence, average, etc.

SWEEEET,
thanks gentlemen *tips hat* this wil make "visualising" a tad easier when the intent is to create a b/w image from the start.. and then still have a colour alternative for later if necessary
