Default Printer specs?

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a printer for my photos. However, I have no idea what kind of specs I should start looking at.

I want to print out my own poster size (20"x30" roughly) prints for framing, simple test prints etc.

I've had a look at some printers but they go into resoultion, speed, ink etc and I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.

Anyone got any ideas for me please?

For photo printing that large you have a few choices. In reality, 24" wide printers from Epson Canon and HP are all very good and really very close in terms of specs.

Some great choices:

Epson 7880
Epson Australia - Epson Stylus Pro 7880 - 24" A1

Canon ipf6000s
Canon Australia - imagePROGRAF iPF6000S

Both are 8 color pigment printers (read "they make fade resistant prints)

Both are fast

Both are economical to run

Both offer photo quality that exceeds a traditional print lab

Hope that helps. Read those specs on each page and you'll get an idea of how they stack up.
