Sorry for the post, i know it might be the wrong place ask here.. also to the admin.
Which Nikon camera do you have? Every camera the produce uses a slightly different raw format (they all end NEF though).

You probably need to update you LR to the latest version though which is LR 2.5, if you already have LR 2 its free. Did you install LR using the CD that came in the box? This blog post from Adobe explains why that isn't always the best thing to do.

What bothers me about this beta is the long length of time it's open for. When I tried out Lightroom 2, I really liked some of the features and thought it was convenient. Then my month ran out, and I found some similar programs, and no big deal. Letting me use it until April is unfair, by then I'll grow dependent on it and be forced to actually purchase the thing. Jerks.

Hi fletch,

I'm using Nikon 5000. Yes as earlier advised, I'll get that 2.5 patch. Unfortunately I used the CD on the box.. . the I believe the patch will cover any bugs or compatibility issues..
thank you fletch!

I have been dying to purchase Lightroom 2 for several months now. I downloaded the beta to figure out how it all works. I haven't had much chance to take photos so I haven't edited any in LR3 yet.

I downloaded the beta and it crashes when I try to export. LR 2 works fine on my comp.
I am running Vista ultimate 64 bit with 6 gigs of ram. I have no idea what to try next.
thanks Fritz

My sys was crashing untill I turned off the custom watermarking feature. Without it

Wait I have a question. Is this basically the whole 2.0 program, but with new features from 3.0 that will be coming out next year or whenever, for free? Or will I need lightroom 2.0 first?

this isnt version 2.....its a not finalized beta version of the successor to version 2 thats coming out next year (version 3.0). it's a full version (dont need version 2 ) w/ all the features of previous versions and new features that are being worked on to be included for version 3 (the new features might not be 100% stable with it being a beta.....the idea is to release it for free to adobe members so we can report back bugs so they can fix for the final version). and yes its free the hitch is it will only work until version 3 is officially released next year. at that point you'll have to purchase the released version. hope that helps clear it up

Snert.

The pre-release OSX beta (i.e., before 1.0 went out the doors) of LR was available for nine months before they decided to go commercial with beta 4. Windows users only got to get in on the fun with beta 3. Seriously painful if you didn't pony up the dough for a license. One helluva marketing tool.
