Default Photoshop file saving

I'm having issues with Photoshop and I'm stumped. I have a PSD file that I brought home from school. I wanted to save it as a jpg so I could use it as my facebook profile picture (Dorky I know ) and It's not even giving me the jpg option in the Save As dialogue box. Thoughts?

Yeah, sounds like you need to flatten the image in the Layers menu.

Usually it just saves a flattened copy when you select the jpg option.
I think it has something to do with it being taken with a D90, (RAW)
All the others that were taken with the 90 wouldn't even open but since I had already opened this one at school and saved it as a PSD I could at least get it to open.

You can only save an image as a JPG if it's in 8 bit mode (Image --> Mode --> 8 Bits/channel), or you use the save for web option. If it's 16 bit, which many RAW and Tiff images are, then it won't give you the jpg option.

What this means is, in Photoshop, go to the Image menu. Then go down to Mode and select 8 Bits/channel, or you use the 'save for web option' in the file menu.
