Default Photoshop Alternative?

My computer has crashed and I lost my photoshop program and I do not have the cd or the serial number to reinstall on my new computer. I have tried going to adobe and downloading a free trial to get me through until I get a new program. however, adobe is not letting me download and I need an editing program ASAP. Any suggestions on a different program I could download for free while I wait?

I've recently downloaded Adobe Lightroom, and am liking it so far. I'll probably buy it. You can download a trial there as well. Since it's not PS, they'll let you DL it.

Another vote for Gimp -- there is also a variation called GimpShop which is reorganized to work a little more like Photoshop, if that's what you're used to (menus are in the same order, etc.).

Another vote for GIMP--you may have gotten it now and realized that it feels different than PS. You will get used to it and there is a ton of tutorials out there.

GIMP is definitely a great photoshop replacement. I used to use it when I ran ubuntu.
