Default Raw Photos

Could anyone tell me what is required before you can open raw photos in PSE 7?
I downloaded them to my PC from my D90 but elements will not open them. Thanks for any help I can get. I'm just learning and don't have a clue.

Old versions of photoshop can't open new camera's file types. You could purchase an updated version of photoshop CS4 or lightroom...whatever photo editor you prefer, and that should open the files.

OR

I recommend downloading the Adobe DNG converter. Convert your files to adobe's open .dng digital negative format and open those in elements.

I believe you download one of these camera raw updates and install it. That should get you working with raw files.

Thanks for your help. I have printed out instructions from Adobe and will attempt to download the needed file to open raw photos.

PSE7 can definately process RAWs from all of the latest camera. Definately the D90. You just need the latest version of Camera Raw from the link above.

Thanks Fletch so let me get this straight PSE7 supports "Camera Raw" with no additional purchases just PSE7 by itself because I have heard a lot of good things about "Camera Raw" but I was told it was apart of "Photoshop" and these are the people who are running CS2, CS3 and or CS4.
