The thread title asks my question, that I ask out of complete ignorance.
I really like the wide angle lens pictures that many of you have shared here on DPS. I don't have a lens like that, so I was wondering if there was another way that I might acheive that effect through editing software. I have CS3. So, is it possible? Thanks.

CS4 has a feature called content aware scaling that may be worth looking into but I wouldn't expect results that come close to a true wide angle lens.

You could do a panorama. Just 2 or 3 frames should give you a similar view than a 10mm (15mm equiv) lens.

Wide angle lenses give a very specific kind of effect -- extreme perspective distortion. Items in the photo look like they're being "sucked" towards the edges. I love this effect, but -- is that what you're referring to? Or are you referring to panoramas (large photos made up from several other photos, "stitched" together)? Panoramas typically lack the perspective distortion, intentionally. Which do you mean?
