Default Colour adjustment in Gimp

Yesterday in the critique section PhotoPhix did a fab edit of my photo and used 'colour adjustment layer' but I only have The Gimp, and can't for the life of me find how to do this. Does anyone know if its possible in the Gimp or something similar?

Sorry if its really obvious, but PP is all new to me!

Gimp doesn't have adjustment layers (yet) -- I can't wait for this to happen!

You can achieve the same basic effect by using the Color Balance and Hue/Saturation menu items (in the Colors menu). You can operate on a copy of your image to avoid irrevocably editing the original.

Hi natalie, the best way is to shoot in raw and download the free version(compatable with gimp) of UFRaw (raw converter program with a few raw adjustment sliders and curves tool). After you adjust the color temp---curves tool---gama adjustments---noise reduction---saturation in raw, you can then transfer to gimp for the rest of your editing.

If your shooting in jpeg , then you can go to tools---GEGL operation---When window comes up, click on the arrow at the right and choose color-temperature. You can also go to colors menu to find some other adjustments.

Thanks for the replies, I shoot in both RAW and Jpeg so will give the UFRaw a shot, but I have been doing the Hue Saturation / Colour balance so I wasn't far off!

thanks again
