Default Is there something you do for almost all your photos?

I'm pretty new to the post processing side of photography and have just recently found this site (which is amazing by the way). I've also just found all the actions and have loaded a bunch into photoshop.
The problem I'm having now is figuring out what actions to use on what pictures. I have installed VirtualPhotographer and find myself wanting to use that on almost all of my photos now (usually "FallColors" or "Sunset") but I don't want to over do things if you know what I mean?

So I thought I would ask what some of you more experienced photographers do for basic post processing on your photos? Is there an action or something that you do on almost all of your photos as a starting point to get things sharper or to make the colors pop?

Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Every photo is different but I do sharpen most at least a bit.
The other thing is resizing to a certain size for web if I'll post the photo somewhere.

That's probably what almost every photo goes through. I have some own actions I often use to see if that's the direction I want to take the photo but there's always some adjustments after that.

Just use whatever you find fascinating and get rid of the ones you never use.

I always go into Lightroom and make sure I am happy with exposure before I do anything else with the pic. aside from that I use different ideas and tools for each set of pictures I select.

I have baseline saturation, sharpening, contrast and noise-reduction settings that are automatically applied in Lightroom based on ISO. After that I simply adjust to taste.
