Default A very difficult photo to corrected

The harsh light is making this picture very very difficult to corrected. Any idea how? Much of my attempt correcting it only make the background looks like a plastic.

The colours have come out very bright. Try desaturating it a bit (see this post for some approaches to that).

Does this help.............. I adjusted the white balance...........desaturated a little bit........Adjusted the contrast with a layer ( Add 2 layers (you will have 3 with the original)....desaturate top layer---invert ----gaussian blur set at around 300---set layer to soft light------adjust opacity slider to where you like it. If it isn't enough, duplicate the layer again and adjust with opacity slider.)---dodge and burn with a layer on blue bear ( duplicate layer--add white layer---fill with med. gray (click on color swatch and move value slider to 50%)-- use soft brush set at 12% opacity to dodge and burn.

Okay, I ran it through Contrast Master and Color Washer (PhotoWiz plugins) both layers set to about 45%. Then went into Levels and brightened the mids a bit. I didn't like the results I got when I tried to do anything else to it, so I left it alone.

Photobucket

I used PS- I adjusted the color balance to take out the yellow, and then turned down the saturation/vibrance just slightly.

Joey The Girl's looks like it came right out of the camera. She got the skin tone to look excellent and kept the vibrant colors. GREAT JOB!!!

Thanks! What can I say? I was into PhotoShop way before I was into photography, so I have a couple tricks up my sleeve!
