Question how do you match your PC's monitor to that of your camera????

total newbie question........
whilst out in the field as it were generally i'm very happy with images displayed on the monitor of my camera, nice crisp colours and contrast etc..
however when i come to look at them on the PC more often then not their usually nothing like what i'm seeing on the camera's monitor, i.e their dark and lacking colour, will i have to spend ages processing them in photoshop or is there perhaps some way i can configure my PC's monitor to be more consistent with that of my camera?
hope that makes sense, any help what so ever greatly appreciated...........

I'm not sure, but if you're camera is incorrect and you just adjust your PC monitor to that of your [incorrect] camera, if you ever make prints, they'll come out horrible. And with that said, do you ever plan on making prints, or are you just going to look at them on your monitor. Oh, and what looks good on your monitor might not look the same on others' monitors...

You need to calibrate your monitor. They sell calibration tools such as the Spyder that do just that. Do a search online for monitor calibration and you will get a ton of information.
