How about a "before and after" - show us what you are starting with and where you are ending up?

thanks loose the scale clue pointed me in the right direction (I think)
help had this to say.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A layer style may have been tuned to look best on a target resolution with features of a given size. Using Scale Effects allows you to scale the effects contained in the layer style without scaling the object to which the layer style is applied. To scale a layer effect: Select the layer in the Layers palette. Choose Layer > Layer Style > Scale Effects. Enter a percentage or drag the slider. Select Preview to preview the changes in the image. Click OK. but alas when I try to select "Scale Effects." it is greyed out so I cant select it

According to my help file, the Layer Scale can only be applied to certain effects, these being: Shadow Distance, Outer Glow Size, Inner Glow Size, and Bevel Size.
In trying to figure out how to do what you're trying to do, I've come up with this solution: 1. Open the image you want to work with. 2. Select the entire picture (Ctrl+A) then copy using (Ctrl+C). 3. Go to Image -> Resize -> Image Size 4. Make sure that you're increasing by a percentage, and set it to 110% (based off of the article). 5. Once that layer has been resized, paste the file you copied earlier (Ctrl+V) as a new layer 6. Adjust the opacity of the layer to the desired amount (I put it at 40-50% opacity). If you still need help I can try to explain this better, and honestly, there may be an easier way to do it, but I found this to work at least. Good luck Post your results when you get it.
