Default Need photo restoration suggestions

I have a photo of my father that is special to me as he was a photographer and so there aren't many pictures of him in general. He died over twenty years ago but I have hung on to this forever.
It got water damage a few years back and its pretty bad. Does anyone know of a place that I can send it to so they can try to mimic the missing parts/restore it?

You could try posting the image here and see what some of the PP wizards here can do with it for you.

WOW! Sorry to say, but that looks really bad. I'll be impressed as hell if someone can fix that for you. It's certainly beyond my limited skills.

I kind of thought so, heck I didn't even play in PS myself.

Its gong to be a yucky slow tedious job, but I did play some to see if it was even worth it.
I extracted him from the background so I could work on one thing at a time. Anyone that was ever in the Navy if you can tell me what that patch on his shoulder is supposed to look like it would help a TON.

Have you seen this site: Photos Restored Digitally by Ctein ?

There's a book and there's a service if you are willing to pay (and send him the original photo).

Oh thank you. From his description it will take him a lot of time to repair this at 45/hr...maybe with my bonus. In the meantime its good to know there are places out there.
