Unfortunately, you need to get the latest version of ACR if you don't want to change your workflow. You can get PS CS4 for that.
If you're willing to change your workflow, your no-cost option is to use Canon's DPP first, then PS. Another option, if you're willing to try it, is get the latest version of LightRoom. This'll cost you, but it just might become a one-stop solution for all your images. You'll still need PS for your compositing and other needs, but LR should take care of everything else. |

Check for the latest ACR update. You'll be fine if there is one for CS3 that can open 5D2 CR2. Otherwise, get the standalone 'Adobe DNG converter' and then convert your CR2 to DNG for CS3.

I don't think there's an update to ACR that will allow CS3 to open the 5DII files. I too suggest using DPP and then CS3 if you don't want to upgrade to CS4.

Thanks everyone!
The most recent update for ACR that works with CS3 doesn't open the 5DMkII CR2 files. I can't really update to CS4 since I don't have an Intel mac. I have a dual 1.25GHz G4 MDD which might run CS4 but I hear it will be slow. (Anyone know just HOW slow it would be?) For now, I am using the DNG converter and then opening with ACR. I will probably end up getting LR since I hear good things about it. And at some point, if I get a new mac, then I'll be able to run CS4 efficiently - and edit the HD videos my camera takes! (Another restriction of my G4... grr...) |
