Question Help, CRW vs CR2

I am trying to shoot in camera raw. However when I download the photos they are CR2. My other camera raw pictures are CRW and have another file that goes with it, a THM file. I don't know how it got changed or why the difference. My Photoshop CS3 says it can not open the file. However I can open them in Lightroom.

What camera do you have? Have you changed cameras, or modes, lately? Have you done a firmware update?

THM files are thumbnail files -- tiny versions of your photos, in jpeg format most likely, which let you get a preview of the raw file.

.CR2 is the RAW file extension for Canon. Adobe Camera Raw opens with CS3 for working these files. Depending upon your camera model, you might have to upgrade the ACR for CS3, these updates can be retrieved from the Adobe website.

You must be using an older model of Canon cameras liked my D30 (raw CRW files). Newer Canon RAW has CR2 extension (ver. 2 of CRW I supposed).

Adobe constantly updating its RAW converter so you should download the latest version for your CS3.

Talking CR2 versus CRW: solution

Thank you so much for the quick advice. Sure enough, I was using and EOS Canon Rebel before and upgraded to Canon 50D. This was the first time that I have had time to shoot in Camera Raw with the Canon 50D. I went to the Adobe website and downloaded the latest version for CS3. They actually have an update for CS4 which will not work with CS3. So the "latest" update will not work for CS3. But, I downloaded the update, it was an 8BI file and moved it over into the correct folder. The relaunched the CS3 and bingo.

Again Thanks alot
