as far as i know there is no such thing as RAW drivers as RAW is just a way of storing information like .
Probably meant "Codecs" not "Drivers".

The reason I asked about camera type is because, if you own a Nikon, you could just download Nikon Transfer & View NX. These could be deleted easily after the trip if hubby doesn't want it on there any more. You would not have any problems uploading RAW files & could view them after uploading.

.RAW files are created by the processor in your camera. The format of that file varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Canon .RAW files are not the same as Nikon .NEF files. To your operating system a file is a file. Most camera's use a FAT32 format systme on their cards and a PC or a Mac can read that format, copy and delete them also. They cannot process them to be viewable on the laptop. You will need to either connect the camera to the laptop with a USB cable or plug the card directly into it, if it has a slot to read it directly. Hope that ansewrs you questions.

On macs at least, you can easily view your memory card as just another mass-storage device -- all files will be visible and downloadable. I've never had this sort of trouble -- perhaps you were using special software to view the card?

You are correct, I was thinking about hooking up the camera to the computer and transfering the images that way and forgot that with a card reader no codecs are required...duhhh
