Default i really need your help on this..

hi! i really need your expert advice on this..how do you post-process a picture so that it will have a vintage/retro style?i min, how will you do it in adobe photoshop (lower version)? i know it's different from lomo effect..here's a sample of the effect..

Curves adjustment layer is your friend. You can try something like these:



These won't get you the exact same effect but it'll get you started.

thank you very much!! but i'm using an older version of adobe photoshop..can u post another curve tutorial using adobe photoshop version 8? thanks!!

That won't be possible since I've never used that version. Only started from CS2 which was version 9 I think and currently using CS3.

Does your version have "Curves" in the "Image --> Adjustments" menu?
That should work similarly to adjustment layers.

ahh..i c..yes..my photoshop has curves under the adjustment menu..but doesn't have the preset thingy..does it affect the effect?

You have to fiddle with the curves yourself. By default there is no such preset but once you have made the curves yourself you can save them for easier later use.

yeah!i tried it!! thanks!!!but didn't work for some pics.i think it will depend on the light source right?

Yea they work differently on different images. That's when you start fiddling with them curves yourself and see what you can come up with.
Don't limit yourself to any presets. There's no wrong way here.
