Hi all,
A friend of mine was wondering which PP program(s) is good to use for his Macbook. I didn't know how to answer that question because I am using a PC, but if anyone knows of any nice programs to use, a feedback would be very generous. Thanks!

It depends how much money she wants to spend! There are a few free programs, then there is Photoshop Elements which is about $80, and Photoshop CS4 which comes in at around $600/700. Mac also does its own software, Aperture, although I'm not really sure what that does and have never used it.
I am using Elements and find I can do everything I want to with it, so won't be spending the extra yet.

I use GIMP on my MacBook. It's got many of the features that Photoshop has, but it's *free*
You can download a version for Mac at http://darwingimp.sourceforge.net/ It can be tricky to learn, but there is a ton of help out there... websites w/ tutorials, etc.

I'm another person who uses GIMP on my Macbook - because it's free
It can be a little tricky to learn, and the photos edited on it can look slightly different on different monitors (but that's the case with most monitors), but I was able to save a photo using GIMPs RAW processing tool, that I have no idea how I'd have rescued in Photoshop. The Original Photo (don't ask ... it wasn't supposed to happen like that. I slipped at just the right second), and The Corrected Version fixed using GIMP. Is the corrected photo perfect? Absolutely not, but it's definitely more viewable

I use Photoshop and Lightroom for my photo workflow, on both the iMac and MacBook Pro. Lightroom is getting very, very good for post-processing, and I'm finding now that I rarely need to leave Lightroom and go into Photoshop unless I need to do pixel editing (healing, cloning, etc - I still don't like Lightrooms touch-up tools, for the most part). I was very impressed recently that Nik Software's Lightroom plugins are just as full-featured as their Photoshop counterparts, making it an even more viable option as a stand-alone program.
Lightroom is cheaper than Photoshop, and if you don't need to do work with layers, basically, Lightroom will get you there. Though just like on a PC, the Adobe products like a lot of RAM, even on a Mac

I too use Gimp, and like it a lot. But really -- Photoshop is available, just like on the PC -- in fact, most major PC software has a Mac version. There is Lightroom and Aperture, which are great.
In fact you can run any PC software you want to on your mac (either by using BootCamp and running Windows, or using something like Wine -- both are free).
